I've been playing flute and saxophone for years... and I love it! The reaction I get from people when they hear a tune they know and enjoy is a thrill every time I play. What could be better than to make folk smile or think about special times in their lives?
I was classically trained but diversified later on to modern and experimental jazz and improvised melodies, fronting several bands and performing to diverse audiences in clubs, restaurants and festivals, for parties and ceremonies. I can adapt to various playing styles and am willing to learn particular pieces on request.

Hi Gavin - heard you in Exeter high street this afternoon. I was transfixed! Wonderful. Very moving! Glad I bought your CD. Thanks! When/where are you playing next? Your web site is way out of date!!! All the very best!! P.S. I play oboe but have been meaning to learn saxophone for year. Now inspired to do so! Steve.

Heard Gavin for the first time in Exeter this morning Sat 15/03, as I just happened to be there for a one off visit. And en route back to the park and ride I heard some wonderful alto sax improvisation going on in the main street …. I put some cash in the hat and stood and listened for 2 or 3 tunes before having to leave … I would have bought the CD but have spent my quota this month at the Bristol jazz fest last weekend.
I was so impressed by Gavin’s soulful and passionate sound and general performance … Once again I wonder at the talent that is there in our streets and the lack of same that features in the pop music establishment! But I am thankful that there are such wonderful musicians out there to brighten even the bleakest of days.
I hear so many people say that they don’t like jazz music, but it was good to see how many people of all generations were stopping to listen! After all music is just music … there are no pigeon holes!!

I heard you busking in a park behind Brighton Pavilion years ago and was mesmerised. You were like the pied piper - I believe you could have led us into the sea that day and we would have followed. I bought your album and have played it to anyone who will listen. Keep up the music because you bring a lot of happiness into people’s lives. Hope to see you when playing gigs near us again.
